Plastic surgery is an optional process through which a part of your face or body is changed or improved. If you are considering plastic surgery, be sure to know what this surgery is about before deciding.Professor Simon Kay, plastic surgery consultant and member of the British Society of Plastic Surgery (BAPRAS), says that cosmetic surgery performed on a normal appearance is not desirable. He added that if someone is born with a big nose, it may be normal but he does not want to. Plastic surgery to change your appearance carries the same risks as any other surgery. Therefore, it is necessary to think carefully before deciding on this process. The most common cosmetic surgery at present is chest surgery [enlarge or strengthen]. After that, the most popular procedure is eyelid surgery, a form of facial rejuvenation that makes the face look younger. These include rhinoplasty, liposuction (by removing unwanted fat via a surgical tube), abdominal resection (by removing the skin and fat from the abdomen – also known as laparotomy) and vaginal cosmetic surgery (reshaping the labia that surrounds vagina).
Can I benefit from plastic surgery? : A recent market research report found that less than 10% of cosmetic interventions are performed primarily for health reasons . Simon Kay says it is a lifestyle chosen by many people .Anyone who has had plastic surgery must understand that this surgery will not solve his life problems . However – according to Professor Kay – some people find that plastic surgery has health benefits by improving their self-esteem. He added that some people are very upset because of their natural and normal appearance, which may lead to depression or lack of self-esteem, so cosmetic surgery has health benefits for such people.
Is plastic surgery safe? : Cosmetic surgery is not a risk-free process. It carries the same risks associated with any surgery involving infection and stroke , as well as all risks associated with a particular procedure . According to Professor Kay, it can include the risk of wound infection , bleeding and scarring , but these risks rarely threaten lives or are long lasting After surgery, bruising and swelling may take weeks and months to subside according to the surgery. Some surgeries may require – as any process involves – antibiotics. The surgeon will be responsible for receiving appropriate care. This may include examination of the wound every week after the procedure and a medical examination six weeks later . The British Society for Plastic Surgery (BAPRAS) warns that not everyone who has had plastic surgery has been trained as a cosmetic surgeon.
Is plastic surgery painful ? : Plastic surgery is performed under general anesthesia . Patients may need to take morphine to relieve pain after some surgeries, and this may be described as a painkiller for a few days afterwards.Professor Kay adds that most surgeries are not painful. It is unusual to feel pain after nose-nose surgery. But you may experience some pain after breast and abdominal surgery.
